Sisters Charlotte and Helen Hole lived at 1 The Row – The School House – after the school had closed in 1932. The cottage was given the name Flagstaff Cottage.

On Sunday 11 June 1939 Helen fell down a cliff near Worbarrow and suffered multiple head injuries. She was taken to Swanage Cottage Hospital. According to the newspaper report above, the hospital described her condition as ‘very comfortable’, over three months later, on 29 September 1939, Helen was still there.

Meanwhile, sister Charlotte was living in Corfe View Road, next door to brother William and his wife. With Charlotte were the Cossars, with whom sister Helen had once lived.
